Chronology of cameras Gamma
Traduction de Sylvain Halgand
The company settled in Roma and named Gamma Officine Meccaniche de Precisione presented the Perla II as an enhanced version of the Perla.
The enhancement brought by the Perla II was a (quite odd) film winding lever fitted with a tiny latch the function of which is not corresponding to any Cartesian logic .
This lever is oriented forward and must be rotated backward to crank the shutter and wind the film.
Similarly to the first Perla, the Perla II is fitted with a very large telemeter coupled with the lens and is very nicely finished.
The Perla 2 appears in sales brochures in 1955 as the successor of the Perla. Considering that Gamma ceased its photographic activities in 1956/1957, we may suppose that the Perla 2 has not been a mass production item.
In 1956, the Perla 2 was offered for 51,900 French Francs in the catalogue Photo Plait.
